Day 9 – Bikes in Berlin

Last day! Sad face!

We went down to breakfast, and then it was time for a bike tour! So fun!

First we picked out helmets.

I’m ready!

We stopped at the Berlin Wall in a few different places.

Here’s our part of the group. We split in half for the tour.

Our guide told us that they tore down the towers and decided they should have kept one so people could see it. So where did they find one? Ebay of course!

Looking through to the space that people had to cross to try to get out.

Some people were tall enough to not need much help!

Tour stop!

There we go!

A few people didn’t want to do a bike tour, so they did a few things on their own. Including a little graffiti. Blame Disney.  They taught us these skills!

After we got back, we went back to the hotel for a few minutes and then headed out.

I had asked the concierge for directions to the nearest eye glasses store. My sunglasses had broken while riding, so we walked to one and asked for help. They very kindly fixed them for free, and we were on our way!

We had Italian for lunch! It was a neat place where you picked your pasta and then what you wanted on it. I got Bolognese and he asked if I wanted everything on it, and I said sure! I mean what crazy can be in Bolognese.

Well I’ll tell you what crazy can be in there! Carrots!!! Who puts carrots in Bolognese?!!

So sad.

We have since been to two more of these restaurants (Vapiano), and I’ve learned they always put carrots in it! Now I know to say no quickly!

Then we walked to some of the museums!

We went inside a few and then walked some more.

This seemed rather brilliant.

Then it was time for a nap before our reception!

During the reception they had everyone go around and say what their favorite thing was. I said I loved how even the events that didn’t look exciting on paper, ended up being some of the most fun we had!

I will also say I was blown away by the friendships we formed on that trip! It’s the best takeaway for sure!

We got our pin!

Then we watched a video they had made of all of our pictures. They included a hilarious scene the filmed about how insanely hot it was in Germany.

They also Air Dropped us our meeting time for the next day!

Dinner!

Friends Kelly and Jenny!

We had a dance party after dinner, and when Dancing Queen came on, which we had decided was our anthem for the trip, everyone got up and danced! Then we danced right out the door!

When we were getting close to the hotel, the guides said they knew we all wanted to say goodbye, and they asked us to do that outside on the sidewalk. Not inside the lobby of this very expensive hotel where they may not appreciate the volume of Americans saying goodbye!

That’s valid.

Friend Gage photobombed us. Cracked me up!

We packed and went to sleep when we got back!
