Day 8 – Sea Day and Palo Brunch!

Today was Palo brunch day!

But first – gingerbread house time!

Checking out our supplies.

We’re basically pros.

I see Mickey!

Brian is a MASSIVE life-long Cubs fan. He had a good year.

Clearly we missed our calling in life!

Finished products!

It was time for brunch, so we dropped off our houses in our rooms and went upstairs!

Here we are!

You may notice that Chase is missing. When he got there, they asked him to go change his tennis shoes. Scroll back and you’ll see what they looked like.

I was quite surprised they asked him to for brunch, but I told him I was very sorry I didn’t warn him that it was a possibility.

I find the whole exchange quite amusing now considering Kelly’s recent brunch picture of the lady in bright tennis shoes, workout gear and headband.

Come on, Palo! I’m fine with rules, we just need consistency!

Ian welcomed us. Yay, Ian! So excited to see him! He took our picture.

We were supposed to be at two tables, but of course Ian had our backs there.

My plate from the buffet.

Someone had pancakes and look at the whipped cream!

They have Mickey waffles at Palo now!

I forget who had this one, but they loved it.

I had chicken parm of course, and didn’t take a picture.

At some point we asked if we could get a refill on the sparkling cider. Ian said unfortunately we had to get it by the bottle now, but he could do that!

It was $18.

For a $3.50 bottle of Martinellis. Lol!

We stuck to coke and water.

Well that was just delicious.

We said goodbye to Ian, and I do hope to see him again!

It was a gorgeous day!

Mrs. Claus was having storytime in the atrium!

We changed and met back up with Carter and Ellie for some Wizard!

It now occurs to me that this trip report is like a walking commercial for Wizard.

At some point I stopped by guest services to check our bill.

And got quite the surprise!

As soon as we knew Chase was going to propose on the cruise, we knew Olivia needed to be able to contact her parents that night. Had to!

We also knew that ship to shore phone calls are around $7 a minute. That’s okay! Still had to be done.

When I got our bill, we had three phone calls on there. Two we were expecting, because she didn’t catch both her parents at once.

The third? Well it was $479 dollars. That is not a typo.

I almost hyperventilated right then and there. I asked when it was, and it was from our room, the night of engagement, to Georgia, for 67 minutes!!!

I thought, “Oh my word, did we not tell them how expensive the calls were?”

Then I asked for the time of the call and I knew something was wrong because they were in Palo.

The guest services person said perhaps they didn’t hang up the phone properly?

Oh my word! There’s just no way, and that doesn’t even make sense! If that were so, why would it have cut off at 67 minutes?

She said she would see if there was anything they could do and get back to us.

I went back to the room and told Stephen and we agreed we could not tell Olivia who would feel awful!

Except I just did. Hi, Olivia!

But it’s okay, thank the heavens, we heard the next day that they took it off. Phew! That would definitely have been our most expensive phone call ever!

Tonight was semi-formal night, so we got ready early for pictures. It was really just pictures this time! No super-secret sensational surprise.

We met at 5, dinner was at 5:45. There were a lot of big groups in front of us. They were doing every combination of every family possible, which I do understand.

Stephen started to say we weren’t going to make it at about 5:20. I was like no way.

At 5:30 I was a little more concerned.

Pop and Ellie sat down to wait it out.

Christmas Belle came by!

It was 5:45 but there was only one family in front of us and there was no way I was getting out of this line.

One family built up of 6 families! And then I saw a bag of Christmas scarves sitting next to me. Oh snap, they were going to do more pictures with scarves!

But they really did go as fast as they could.

We agreed to do the group shot, then our family so Stephen, Chase and Olivia could go on to dinner and tell our servers we would be late. And I could stay and take family pics of everyone else. Luckily we were right next to our dinner in Royal Court!

We clean up okay!

Our new family! Totally worth being late!

Dad and Mom!

Bonnie and fam!

She was like – one picture and then we gotta go!!

Ha!

I took a few pictures of Ally and then we went in.

Dinner and phone pictures for the rest of the night!

After dinner some people went to the show. Afterwards we were looking for somewhere to relax and ended up in Ooh La La.

Well, some of us did! The hours said minors could come in until 9, so we told Carter to meet us there. Until the servers said he couldn’t come in, Ooh La La was an exception.

Whoops! Sorry, Carter! Got kicked out! Dang it, Joan!

It seems like we did something else after this, but I have no picture evidence.

So bed time it is! Last day tomorrow!
