Day 1 – Travel Day and Candlelight Processional at Epcot

Day 1!! Woohoo!!

Our travel actually started the night before when we drove to Denver and spent the night. In a hotel with no bathtubs, which was tragic. Why? Why do hotels do that? I need my nightly bath!!

But anywhoooo…

We were up super early for our flight. Chase, Olivia, and Ally were even earlier! They were already there when we were boarding! Dad and Mom were there shortly after.

I had a Christmas band!

We had an uneventful-but-felt-like-it-took-12-hours flight. We picked up our rental cars and were on our way!

We dropped off our bags in our room at Beach Club and then walked over to Epcot. I was texting the fam to let them know where we were.

There they are! My children!! And Olivia! And my parents!

We all hugged and started walking to China. We had Candlelight Processional dinner reservations tonight! Stephen and I had done the Candlelight before, and I couldn’t wait for everyone else to see it.

I love Christmas at Disney!

We were all here except my sister and family who would arrive the next day!

We made it to Nine Dragons and were seated very quickly.

I took a bunch of phone pics of our food for social media –

Dinner was really good! I think everyone liked it.

After dinner we decided the one ride we really wanted to do was Test Track, so we walked that way.

Courtney and Justin were in the park that night and were texting me to meet up.

Have you seen their wedding pictures? They got married on the Dream, and my word their wedding pictures were amazing!

We decided to meet at Test Track. I didn’t see them when we got there, so we hopped in the single riders line. Courtney texted me, they were behind us in line, so we told them we would wait when we got off!

The wait wasn’t bad at all, and after riding, we talked to Courtney and Justin for a little while. It was so fun to meet up in person!

We said goodbye and we walked towards the World Showcase to get in line. The line was pretty long! Not as long as it was when we saw Neil Patrick Harris, but still long! We were back in Morocco.

When we got in line, my mom immediately recognized the people in front of us from church! Such a small world.

We ended up sitting almost exactly where we were the last time. Meredith Viera was the narrator tonight. I’m not a huge fan of hers, but I don’t dislike her or anything. I figured it would still be great.

And it was! Having seen three different narrators varying wildly in popularity, I can now say that – the narrator just doesn’t matter! That’s just not what it’s about!

Sure it’s fun to see someone like NPH, but once it starts, it could be just about anyone up there.

Oh, and the last two times I’ve seen it, I’ve been stuck behind someone who insisted on taking phone pictures approximately every 90 seconds. I tried to ignore it and not get irritated, but it’s not always easy.

Everyone loved it though! I was so glad.

After we were done, we walked back to Beach Club. Dad and Mom were ready for bed, so we grabbed one of their Magic Bands so Chase could get in later to sleep. We stopped in Beaches and Cream for some ice cream for the girls. Then we went back to our room and set a meeting time for the morning.

I slept like a very happy, contented baby. It’s so nice to all be together!
