Day 8 – Introducing The Pneumonia

Today was another sea day today!  Yay!  I love the ports on a Med cruise, but it’s so nice to have some days to do nothing if we wanted.

Believe it or not though, I got up at 5:35!  5:35!  Goodness gracious.  There was a reason though – a sunrise photo meet up with a group from another board.  I wasn’t sure I wanted to go, but I laid out some clothes the night before and decided to play it by ear.

I rolled over around 5:30, looked at the clock and decided – why not?

So I got up, threw on some clothes and went on upstairs.

It was cool, if not spectacular, and worth getting up for.

Here it comes!

Little more!

And wait! What is this?

Now that’s a sunset.

While we stood there with our cameras, a couple came and stood next to us. The guy had all kinds of photo tips for us. Even when they weren’t necessarily asked for? They had apparently had not been to bed yet.

After the sun finally rose, I walked around and took a few more pictures.

Palo! We had brunch scheduled later this morning!

Hey, there’s me!

I must have gotten a coke at some point:

The nightclubs:

I took a lot of lobby pictures since it’s not going to look like this much longer:

Then I grabbed some breakfast because I’d been up for like 2 hours already!

I went back to the room and crawled into bed around 7:45 and slept until 10.

Ally and I went to see Chimpanzee after we both got up. I really enjoyed it. I got a lot done this morning!

When we stopped back in the room, Stephen said my dad was looking for me. He said mom had a rough night and they were finally accepting that she needed help and going to medical. I went to their room to check on them. Dad was there, but mom was in the clinic sleeping. They finally knew what was wrong! She had – Pneumonia!!!

I was in shock! I, mistakenly, thought pneumonia developed from a cold or other illness and she hadn’t been sick at all until this hit. They had hooked her up to an IV drip for an hour. The doctor, also mistakenly, told her she should feel better in 24 hours or so.

You’ll see where the “The” before “Pneumonia” comes into play a couple of days later in this report!  🙂

I was so sad for her! But so glad we knew what it was! We had a reservation at Palo for brunch today!

It was Chase’s first time! We let them know Dad and Mom wouldn’t be there and they were fine with it.

Feast your eyes!

I apparently decided it was impossible to take too many pictures of brunch at palo. You’re welcome.

I should have done a better job of taking pictures of the food signs too because I have no idea what some of this is.

Mother-in-law and Brother-in-law:

Chase had plain cheese pizza.

Where did everybody go?

After a delicious brunch, we went to check in on mom. Look at her sad arm!

And this, my friends, is why you buy trip insurance. This was just one visit. And there were more to come.

Can’t see the total? Here it is again. One visit.

Stephen and Chase were chillin while we talked.

I found Ally in her favorite spot. On deck 4 with a book and food.

Where are all the chairs?!

Stitch in the wild!

Belle in the wild!

And the rarest character of all – Mom!!! She came out again!

I obviously took this picture, but I don’t remember whose it was?! Mine? Quite possibly!

Dinner was in Parrot Cay tonight. Mom was tired from her day, so she and Dad missed it again.

Italian night! Yay!

Someone had steak!

I think I actually had spaghetti and meatballs!

Isn’t she just a little angel?

Not sure what this story was:

Ally took my camera:

Dessert time!

Most of us had the Stuffoli. It was quite yummy. It would have been better warm, but you can’t really argue with deep fried goodness dusted in sugar.  Ally’s Mickey bar photo-bombed my picture:

Tonight was the midnight premiere of Monsters University and I wanted to go, but I didn’t want to stay up so late! Ally was disgusted with me.

She said, “Disney. Up.”

Ouch!

Thankfully after dinner, we saw that we would have another chance tomorrow night so I was able to put it off! We did go to the adult show and did some laundry! I think we ended up staying up almost as late as the movie! Oops!
