Day 11 – Mykonos and the Start of a Countdown to Get Back to Mykonos

Day 11 – Mykonos and the Start of a Countdown to Get Back to Mykonos

Okay, people.  If you think other ports were pretty, you’ll be in love with Mykonos!  Seriously, I think I could live there.

We slept until 8 today.  I went to check on Mom in the clinic, and they told her it was going to be a couple more weeks before she had all of her energy back.

She was so sad to miss Mykonos, until we realized she should just come off in her wheelchair!  All we were doing was walking through the town!  She could do that in a wheelchair.  They were so excited at the prospect of leaving the ship!  Even though Mom doesn’t look like it right here…

We all went up top to meet everyone for lunch.

Hello Mykonos!

I ran to grab a burger. I was so excited to see they had my favorite special today – a Philly cheesesteak sandwich! Yay!

When I brought it back to the table, everyone else was not happy! Apparently they had just put up the sign and everyone else was jealous of my food. Dad got one too. It was good to be late today, apparently.

I wonder if Gramps knows that Ally is using him as a photo shield?

Ally was very happy to push the wheelchair!

We weren’t thinking and Ally pushed her down the ramp off the ship too. Not a good idea. Let’s just say we almost had a runaway wheelchair containing The Pneumonia.

We caught a shuttle over to the town. It was about a 5 minute ride. It was super windy by the ship, but thankfully very nice in town.

Nope. That’s not Photoshop, that’s the water. Gorgeous!

Chase found Wi-fi outside this café. We made a note to stop in later.

We were a little worried that the streets would be really bumpy for the wheelchair, but they weren’t bad at all!

The streets were like a beautiful maze. I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the side streets! They were just gorgeous!

We walked up this ginormous set of stairs later:

Look! She’s out!

We looked at a map every once in a while, but mostly just wandered.

We did pass some seriously high-end stores back here.

We passed a giant pelican that lots of tourists were posing for pictures with:

This tree was drowning in staples:

The Pneumonia!

There were some para-surfers out.

We wanted to work our way up to the windmills and we did. We did not let Ally push the wheelchair on the hill up!

She’s so happy:

There’s the ship!

After this we split up from Dad, Mom and Stephen’s parents. I think the in-laws went back. Dad and Mom got some gelato. We kept wandering.

Mom had been dying for some plain crackers for the last few days, so we stopped in a little grocery store and bought cokes for us and crackers to take back to her. The crackers and cokes were only 6 euros! Man things get cheaper as you get out of the tourist areas.

Our aim was a high lookout. We worked our way back to some steps we had seen earlier.

Kitty!

More windmills!

After taking pictures, the kids making vines, and brother-in-law videotaping, we made our way back to the shops for some souvenir shopping.

This red seemed a little out of place:

When we were ready to head back, we stopped where Chase had found Wi-Fi before, but didn’t have much luck. So we decided to go into the café and order something.

Best. Decision. Ever.

Look at this amazing café. Those aren’t windows, that’s open air:

They were so friendly inside, and didn’t mind at all that our main goal was obviously Wi-Fi. We all ordered some ice cream and we sat enjoying the absolutely amazing view and sea air.

Oh, and we buried our head in our phones too.

We stayed probably an hour and loved every minute of it. Mykonos and this incredibly relaxing afternoon, was one of our favorite stops of the entire cruise. Well done, Mykonos.

We caught the shuttle back to the ship. On the way we passed the most amazing hotel where each room had its own infinity pool. Oh my word I need to go back there.

Back at the ship!

Ally was dying to go to a beach, so she and I changed into our swimsuits and got back off. There was a beach within walking distance of the ship so that’s where we were headed.

Up and over this hill!

The beach wasn’t crowded at all and Ally loved it. I also only saw one European style bather. Bonus!

Oh, and one unintentional nude sunbather. There was the dad carrying his little boy on his shoulders who didn’t realize the little boy’s shorts had worked their way down under his bottom. So the dad was carrying a little boy who was mooning everyone they passed. It was a funny sight. Mom was in front. She probably died when she got behind and noticed.

We stayed for about an hour and then started making our way back to the ship. We fell in love with Mykonos and decided we must absolutely go back one day.

Dinner tonight was in Parrot Cay. Mom’s day out in the sun wore her out, so they missed it again.

I forgot to tell you one funny thing that Plamen did. I think when we said Allison went by Ally, he thought we said Alice. He called her Alice all week. We didn’t correct him because we thought it was adorable. We all took to calling her that. So now we had Alice and The Pneumonia traveling with us.

Dinner time!

Dessert!

Alice stole the camera again:

My father-in-law was taking dessert ordering very seriously:

Plamen did some magic for us tonight:

We went to the magic Show after dinner and enjoyed it! After the show we did some laundry. This was like our third time! I felt like Kelly!

When we got back to the room we found some gifts from Disney to apologize for our bathroom flooding. Only Disney.

A print:

A bottle of sparkling cider:

And a note:

Tomorrow was another sea day!
