Day 10 – Edinburgh (A City to Which We Must Return)

I woke up at 7 today to get ready for our excursion!

Jeb was back!  Woohoooo!!!

Good morning, Greenock!

I was super excited about going to Edinburgh today!! It was going to be a long long bus ride, but worth it we were sure. Plus we would have Jeb to entertain us on the ride!

We ate breakfast in Cabanas. And we’re off!

Hello there!

The bus ride was a little shorter than the two hours we expected. Maybe 1 ½.

We’re off! It was brisk and overcast today, but no rain. So that worked for me!

There’s the castle!

We walked right to the Royal Mile which is a walking, shopping street with the castle at one end. It also contains The Elephant House where J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter! Which we totally and completely forgot about. So we completely failed there. Take back our Harry fan cards.

But we’re here!

And we stopped for food. Which is our way.

We did not eat this!

I also stopped at Starbucks to add to my growing and awesome mug collection.

The Pneumonia was up for a picture opp for social media. #thankyouJeb

For the life of me, I cannot understand how they do this.

We stopped at a stand and bought a souvenir for Chase. It was a little leather journal.

Ally decided she liked it so much, she went back and bought another one later! I took pictures of them at some point later in the trip.

Many cathedrals had a photography fee or donation. They just asked that you would donate a couple of pounds if you were going to take pictures. Very reasonable.

I got a kick out of these Tammy hats! I totally should have bought one!

We made it to the castle!

We went inside the walls, but didn’t pay to go all the way inside.

The view:

We did go in the shop. This shirt amused me.

We walked back down and stopped in an Italian place for lunch. In the coolest booth ever!

After that we walked some more. Ally was stopping in every candy store in search of some candy she had the last time she was in Scotland. I think they were called Bon Bons, but they weren’t the kind of Bon Bons I was used to.

So much chocolate!

And haggis?

It’s a wee little gift shop!

The Queens Gallery was at the other end of the Royal Mile.

This hill was super cool. You can’t see it, but there were several people taking a path to the top. I wish we had time!

We started back up!

I had a cupcake at some point.

We split up from the girls and Dad and Mom to try to get closer to the castle from beneath.

We didn’t have enough time to walk far enough to get a good angle. So we walked back to the bus! Apple store!

We decided we loved Edinburgh, and really want to go back one day. I took a picture of this hotel to remind myself to look it up when we came back!

Back on the bus.

And then we were home.

We went back to the room for a little while and then got ready for dinner at Lumiere’s.

So every night at dinner, we had an empty table for four next to ours. Tonight when we walked in and there were four guys there. Um, four guys that looked like the Beatles!

It was the Liverpool Legends who were performing the next night! Eek!

We didn’t want to bother them, but totally took sneaky (or not so sneaky) pictures of them. See?

Here they are!

Subtle, right?

Okay, back to food. Here’s my very exciting bread!

No surprise, this was my dessert.

One of the Beatles noticed my dessert and said, “Whoa, where did you get that.” I told them how they could order them in any of the dining rooms even though they weren’t on the menu. They were very excited by this!

Then I told them they could order them from room service and they were in awe.

How did I know such things? I told them I’d done it a few times.

We said goodbye and went out on deck.

It was Speak like a Whale Day!

It was also the day to see Thor! Woot!

Then we went to see Junnk! They’re always fun.

Oh look at tomorrow’s Navigator!

We had been joking that Erin should jump in on the teen group one night and act like she’d been there all along. We decided rampaging in Dodgeball would be an excellent way to introduce herself. No?

Erin Dodgeball Emoji-

Okay, maybe not this time! Then it was bedtime! Thanks for reading!
