Day 1 – Boat Tour in Copenhagen

Today started with a long flight from Denver to Reykjavik and then to Copenhagen!

We got to Denver and I decided I needed some McDonald’s fries. Who knew when we were eating again! Stephen laughed at me.

Until I brought them back. And he realized there is never a bad time for McDonald’s fries.

Our flight was on Iceland Air. As we boarded, they handed us bottled water and there were comfy blankets at our seats.

I enjoyed Iceland Air. The flight attendants were pretty funny. They were very blunt! It wasn’t like the normal, “If you can please make your way to your seats, we can take off soon!” It was like, “You need to sit down. Now. We are trying to leave!”

I watched a few movies and took a few short naps. I don’t mind long flights. I love the movies, and reading with no interruptions!

We had a quick layover in Reykjavik. We had a longer layover on the way back and were going to get out of the airport and see a little bit of Iceland.

Ice cream snacks!

And we were there! Yay!

The Copenhagen airport was super nice!

We met up with my parents in baggage claim and caught a taxi to our hotel. We were staying at the Admiral Hotel which is an amazing location right off Nyhavn, which is the waterfront area you’ll see in postcards.

Stephen’s parents were already there waiting for us.

We said hello and went to our room.

Cute!

Here’s our view. The water was on the opposite side of our hotel!

We gave ourselves an hour to freshen up – and NOT go to sleep, and then met back up for an early dinner.

Here’s the lobby:

We walked over to Nyhavn. Here’s the backside of the hotel. It’s on the left:

Here we are!

Love the locks on the bridge!

We walked for a little bit and then settled on a pizza place with seats outside.

After our yummy dinner and then said goodbye to Stephen’s parents who were ready for bed. We went with my parents to take a boat tour!

The Pneumonia!

There’s our hotel!

The boat tour was great! We saw so much!

The Little Mermaid statue was over there, and packed!

I decided my parents should retire here and live on a houseboat. Don’t you agree?

And we’re back!

We ended the night with ice cream in fresh made waffle cones! Topped with what we called Bonbons as children in Germany, but apparently are called Flodebollers! Bad iphone pic:

Flodebollers are some of my favorite things. Ever.

Ice cream is Stephen’s favorite thing ever. So we were all happy!

My parents went to their rooms and we decided to walk a little bit more to avoid bed for as long as possible.

I had wanted to walk down to the Little Mermaid, but that was overly ambitious in our tired state.

We did make it down to the palace!

We finally headed back and fell asleep around 9 pm, not too bad! Boarding day tomorrow!
