Day 7 – Thanksgiving in Cozumel
It was rocking all night! Our closet door wouldn’t stay closed so at one point I jumped up and put a pillow on the door track to keep it closed.
We woke up to some crazy wind! Last Thanksgiving, we went to Paradise Beach in Cozumel and we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it was too windy for the water climbing equipment, but we still enjoyed it. So Paradise Beach was also getting a do-over!
We must have eaten room service for breakfast, but I have no pictures that indicate that or otherwise!
When we got off the wind was insane! I almost lost my hat a few times!
Truly, we could barely walk.
You can see a little bit of the wind effects here in the waves.
I risked a look back to take a quick picture!
Waves!
At the end of the dock we got the hard sell.
We passed several people asking if we needed a taxi and we finally stopped and told them we were all headed to Paradise Beach. They told us there was no way we should go there, it was much too windy! They said the other side of the island would be much better. We said no, we would risk it.
He sighed and took us across the street to wait for his driver. When the driver came up we got the hard sell again. It’s tooooo windy! You shouldn’t go there!
So we had an adult pow-wow. The deciding factor? There was no free Wi-Fi at the resorts on the other side of the island. Lol
We all agreed we would risk Paradise Beach and if we came back after an hour so be it. We told them again we were going to Paradise Beach. Again, they sighed, but they actually went to get the van this time!
When we arrived the driver said he was just going to hang out all day and wait for us.
Whaaaa? Oookay.
We walked into the entrance and it wasn’t too bad! Pretty nice actually.
We asked for chairs near the pool, but they were full, so they took us to the beach. Ooh, these were better!
And It wasn’t very windy at all! The inflatables were even up!
And there was free Wi-Fi.
Cozumel selfies!
Chilling on the chairs –
I love this little dock.
Carter was trying out the pool:
He was struggling with the whole chair in the water thing. Lol
We spent the next several hours relaxing. Ally and Colby spent some time in the hammocks.
Chase and his cousins decided to dig a ginormous hole like they had last time we were here.
While they were digging I heard someone say they saw a shark while snorkeling!! Shark!!!!
Of course the kids and I went to look.
No shark. Just cute kids.
Back to the hole.
I went back to the chairs.
The kids hit a giant rock at some point and gave up their quest to dig to China. We ordered lunch (from our chairs!) after a little while.
Then we sat back and relaxed while they delivered it to us. This is the life.
The kids went swimming after lunch. May not have even waited an hour before doing so!
Back to the chair!
We finally decided to head back to the ship around 3:30. Sure enough, the driver was sitting in the van!
It was still super windy back at the ship!
We stopped in the duty free shop for some chocolate from Paraguay that my children love, and then walked back.
Back to the room!
Stephen stepped out of the room for second and when he came back he said he saw someone walking down the hall with a soft pretzel! Ack!!!
It was soft pretzel day!!
We all jumped up and speed walked to the pool deck! I texted everyone else on the wave phone – “Food alert!!” Hot soft pretzels!
They had plain, Cinnamon and filled with cream cheese. Woot!!
There were also wings that I think somebody got but I didn’t take a picture of. And I’m sure there was ice cream…
We went back to the room to shower after that so we would be ready for Thanksgiving dinner! You know, because we needed more food.
Stephen and I left early to go get in line for Pilgrim Mickey!
Mickey!
Then it was dinner time! Big menu tonight!
Cornbread for Thanksgiving:
“Kid’s” Table:
“Adults” table!
Right around now I realized I was sitting next to some of Heather’s clients onboard! I don’t know how I missed them before. I walked over and introduced myself and said hi. They were all having fun which was good!
My Father-in-Law (who is rather famous for mispronouncing words like Luminaires instead of Lumiere’s) said, “Oh they’re Storybook Sensations clients?” Lol
We cracked up and decided that was an excellent name. Storybook Sensations.
Maybe that needs to be a branch of the company.
I had fried cheese. You know because that’s very Thanksgiving-ish.
Someone had salad.
I did have turkey of course!
I was so sad when I saw the sweet potatoes though! I wasn’t paying attention when I ordered! But our servers saw my sad face and brought me some real potatoes!
Ice cream was on tap for dessert.
Stephen ordered fancier ice cream than me.
And one of us also had cake!
It was Thanksgiving!! We went to the room to drop of my camera and found this excellent towel animal.
Then we went to see Guardians of the Galaxy. Love that movie.
It was rocking tonight so we went to bed after the movie.
Sea day and Palo brunch tomorrow! Thanks for reading!
