Day 5 – Animal Kingdom and Kathy with a “K”

I woke up early again! About 6:30.

We left the room at 8:30. Today everyone but Scott made it whose back was bothering him. 🙁

I stopped by the front desk to check in and check out of one room that was on a split reservation. I left about 5 minutes early thinking it would be quick. Nothing about our front desk interactions were quick. I should have known! There were some disgruntled family members, who shall be nameless, waiting for me.

While we were waiting for everyone to get through bag check, I gathered those I had for a picture. Well one of the photopass guys saw us and insisted on taking it. Then he started posing and moving.

Really, all I wanted was a quick shot. Now we had a long posed family shot that not everyone made it in for! Oops.

Walking!

We did Bugs Life first because we had Fastpasses for the big things we wanted to do.

Next it was time to head back to the safari! We passed Harambe! We’d be coming back! Ally declared she was eating there for lunch and nowhere else.

We shopped a little.

We walked down the trail next.

Love them.

Next it was safari time! We had a great one! But best of all was our driver. “Kathy with a K!”

She was the most earnest, enthusiastic, full of crazy facts driver I’ve ever had. We were seriously so tickled at her!

She knew the names of every group of animals and did not want us to leave without that knowledge. You know like a school of fish.

“A group of hippos is called a Bloat! B-L-O-A-T. Bloat!”

“A group of cheetahs is a coalition!”

A group of giraffes is a tower!

At one point we passed a bird walking. She was so excited. “Ladies and gentlemen, down there! There’s a bird.”

We almost busted a gut laughing.

It was so awesome.

Lion was out! But a wild angle lens does not work for lions.

Next it was time for Everest. I never feel great after getting off Everest so I sat out with the in-laws and Colby who do not partake in coasters. They needed me you know.

Colby tripped going up the stairs. Dang it Joan! He recovered quickly.

They all seemed happy!

We split for lunch. Some went to pizza planet, some to Flame Tree. Stephen, Ally, Ellie and I went to Harambe.

We finished before everyone else so we walked down the other trail. The monkeys were putting on a show!

Next we all walked to Lion King. We didn’t want to cut, so we were behind them. See them through there?

Ohana means family unless you aren’t here when we get in line.

Here we are!

Next we did Dino and then Flights of Wonder.

Selfie!

After we sat down I realized I hadn’t bought a mug from Animal Kingdom yet! I couldn’t have an incomplete collection! I got up and went to Starbucks!

I met everyone at the front. We had big plans for dinner tonight! Beaches and Cream! Woohoo!

We were cutting it pretty close, but luckily did not wait long for a bus!

Chase was flashing his socks:

We made it!

While we waited, several people left at various times for the bathroom and the kids went into the arcade. We made it clear that Ohana means family until our pager rang! You miss that, you’re on your own!

Beaches and Cream was, not surprisingly, a big hit! I made it clear that this place was all about the ice cream and to save room! Most of us split dinners.

There was sooooo much ice cream at every table. I would have lined every single sundae up if I didn’t think (know) my family would revolt. So I settled for my own table.

After we were stuffed to the gills, we split up. Some of us walked through Epcot, and some took a boat to the Studios and then a bus to AKL.

Look at these two cuties!

We had one more shot at Captain EO!! It did not disappoint. The adults were dumbfounded, the kids were asking what on earth just happened. Perfect!

We also stopped to get some Beverly!

We caught the bus next and were back at the room really early! Like 7:30. We chilled, decorated some Magic bands and watched TV. Some people may have swam.

Then it was bedtime! Magic Kingdom tomorrow!
