Day 4 – Hollywood Studios and Dang It Joan!

I woke up at 5 today! Good grief! I could not sleep in!

Some of the family was sleeping in today. We (okay I) had picked Tower of Terror for our Fastpass instead of Rock ‘N Roller Coaster, so we needed to get there first! Since not everyone was going to ride it, they decided to sleep in!

Ohana means family unless you are getting up early to ride something I’m not going to ride…

We got there for rope drop today! We were there about 20 minutes before the park opened.

Waiting for everyone to get in!

We’re in!

Here was our holding place.

Our numbers were fewer! I think we got everyone in this one but Scott!

Girlies:

Rope dropped!

We zigged and zagged and tried to stay together which was pretty much impossible! But we still walked right on!

Away we go!

Next we walked on Tower of Terror. Like so fast I didn’t even take pictures!

Chase is not a fan of Tower (I know, it’s crazy), so he went for hot tea while we rode. There he is!

So basically 15 minutes after the park opened we’d done the two biggest rides. This is why we get up early.

Bonnie and the rest of her fam was on their way in, so I popped in to my favorite place!

Starring Rolls!

I ate my cupcake and we walked to the Great movie ride. No hat!

When we got out, Lightning McQueen and Mater had no line, so Carter and I paid them a visit.

I got him taking a selfie:

Stephen joined us around this time too.

We had Fastpasses for Star Tours. This is where we noticed how badly the Magic Band scanning can back up the Fastpass line. It wasn’t as bad as it looked though.

We got the new Star Wars section! I was so excited when I saw Finn! Ellie was the rebel spy.

After we got off we were hungry, but we had an awkward time for dinner. We were eating at 2:40 so we’d have time for a break and wouldn’t miss the Osborne Lights or Fantasmic. We decided to get something at the commissary. The printout said it opened at 11. The app said 11:30. We got there at 10:55 and gave up at 11:10.

Pretzels then!

We decided to go see Indy. I was still in line, so we broke off. Stephen’s parents were the last to arrive and they met us there.

Nope! Indy was full! Okay, Little Mermaid!

Stephen was waiting for me and when he got there he refused to cut in line and catch up with everyone else. Whatever. I ditched him.

He made it in anyway! Lucky duck.

We had Fastpasses for Toy story next!

So this was taken on a previous trip and was one of Chase’s all-time favorite pictures.

He was determined that we should recreate it. I kept waiting for Grammy to put her glasses on, but when she did Gramps took them off and vice versa!

So Chase and Olivia recreated it on their own:

It’s brilliant.

We’re on!

When we were done, we walked over to Watto’s Grotto. We spread out a little too much and lost Ellie and Amber. Amber stuck with Ellie and they found us again!

Watto’s is pretty tucked away and I wasn’t expecting much. But it was so awesome!!

These shoes cracked me up.

After we got out, it was time for our Tower of Terror Fastpasses! Since some of us had already ridden, we split up. Those who didn’t want to ride, or didn’t want to ride again, went to the Stunt Show.

Stunt Show selfie!

I’m always pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy the show.

We walked to meet back up.

We tried Indy, but it was full again!

The girls took our Magic Bands and went to ride Tower a couple more times.

We did a little shopping.

Then we met up at 50’s Prime Time! Woohoo!

While we were waiting to be called, I tried to get someone to go see if we could get any new Fastpasses at the nearest kiosk. Everyone was afraid to leave and be ditched though!

Ohana means family until your name is called at 50’s Prime Time and you aren’t there!

When we got to our seats, my sister and parents were so excited that we had their favorite server – Byron!

I gotta say, Byron was amazing. Just perfect.

He immediately asked Larry if he had dressed like a traffic cone for a reason. See above picture of Larry at Toy Story if you don’t remember what he was wearing. 🙂

Hilarious!

We are a family who is pretty particular about their cokes. Diet Coke or Coke, but do not mix them up.

Well Bryon brought all our drinks and put them in a group in the middle of the table and said he had no idea which is which.

We all started trying them. They all tasted like Cherry coke.

Byron asked if they were good and we said, “No!” He basically told us to get over it.

We weren’t sure if he was kidding and if we were all going to have to drink awful drinks.

Until he brought our real drinks out! Phew!

He said the coke machine was broken and everything was coming out Cherry Coke. He said all the other servers were standing there looking at them, and he was like, I’ll take them! Lol

Our food was delicious of course!

Deconstructed chicken pot pie:

Fried chicken!

Sampler platter.

Pasta:

Pot roast:

Byron saw me taking pictures of my food and as soon as I put it down, he scolded me, took it and left. Shoot!

Byron had some fun with my phone.

Look who was there! I found Nancy!

We had a couple of hours to go back to the room, so that’s what we did!

We attempted some bus selfies!

Then everyone fell asleep, haha!

Many people took naps in the room! I may have, I don’t remember!

Chase got a haircut! Woohoo!

Never get tired of this view!

Most everyone went back except Stephen’s parents. We heard it was packed at the Studios, but we weren’t missing the lights!

We were the only ones on the bus for a while, and my family decided to sing. On the bus. On a Disney bus. They went through several songs, with “Doe a Deer” being the most popular.

Then other people got on the bus. And it happened again. Oh. My.

When we walked in, I ran ahead to get my Passholder glasses.

There they are!!!!! I love them so much! I mostly took phone pictures.

Ally had my passholder glasses here:

Everyone absolutely loved the lights, which I knew they would!

We all walked over to Fantasmic next! I broke off to run in Starbucks and get my mug!

I tried to catch up with everyone in line, but after saying excuse me a hundred times, I realized they must have been in a totally different area in line.

While they were in line they played Look Up Look Down. If you don’t know the name, you stand in a circle, look down and then when someone says “look up” you look up and right at someone. If the person you look at isn’t looking at you, you’re still in. The circle gets smaller and smaller until someone wins.

Apparently Carter and The Pneumonia looked right at each other on the first one and Carter yelled, “Dang it, Joan!”

Or maybe he said, “Dang it, Grandmom” and someone laughed and changed it to “Dang it, Joan”. The details are contested here.

Regardless, “Dang it, Joan!” became our second catch phrase for the week. Every time something went wrong, you yelled, “Dang it, Joan!”

For example, if you tripped over yourself while walking? Dang it, Joan!
The line was long at a ride? Dang it, Joan!
You forgot your jacket in the room? Dang it, Joan!

Perfect catchphrase.

We all found each other again and settled in for the show! Oh and we had snacks of course! 🙂

I love this show! I always want to get great pictures, but never want to bring my big lens. So I don’t! And I get tiny Mickey.

We left with the masses but our bus line wasn’t bad.

We made it back!

Elevator selfie!

Then it was bed time of course!
