Day 7 – Ship Tour

Today we were driving over to Port Canaveral and touring the Dream! Not like a few of us haven’t seen it a bazillion times, but it never gets old right?

We dropped off our stuff at Old Key West and drove to Port Canaveral.

There’s the terminal!

So everyone kept saying it was going to be hard to see the Dream and have to get off. I really didn’t think it would be hard. I was getting on the Magic in a couple of months and I’d be on the Dream in September (or so I thought, lol). But when I saw that beautiful ship sitting there, it hit me. It was a cruel tease!! Dang it, Joan!

We were the only ones in the terminal.

We (I?) took a bazillion pictures.

There she is!

We were delayed in boarding for a while, so we waited and waited. And ate snacks from the candy machine!

Hi Heather, Heather and Misty!

Finally, it was time!  We stopped on the gangway for a little while. Mickey walked by, but my camera settings were ready for the lobby! Wayyyy overexposed, lol.

We’re on!

Enchanted Garden:

Satellite Falls:

We stopped in Vanellope’s. Just to look!

Then Palo:

And Remy:

We zipped through the kid’s clubs.

Then the Walt Disney Theater!

We passed Stitch in Shutters!

Here’s Evolution:

We had to get the touring done before the ship got too full or staterooms were done, so we didn’t eat until around 2. We were soooooo hungry! But FYI, Cabanas is empty at that time!

Ice cream!

And then we were done! We took a quick selfie in the atrium. Some of my favorite people!

I didn’t take many pictures onboard since I have so many, but we covered every inch of that ship!

They almost had to drag us out of the Walt Suite.  I decided I had to make that happen one day. 50th birthday present, Stephen!  And spoiler alert – it happened!

Here’s the trip report!

Goodbye, you beautiful ship!

We drove back to Old Key West and checked in to our villas.

We made plans to get to MK for one last viewing of Wishes and met up in an hour. We caught a Lyft to contemporary to see Scott and family of Disney Cruise Line Blog fame!

There was a little family of ducks under their chairs. So cute!

We caught up for a few minutes and then walked over to the Magic Kingdom.

Here we are!

We agreed on Columbia Harbor House for dinner and ran into Rachel and her family there! We hadn’t met in person yet, so it was good to meet her before the meetings started the next day.

I don’t remember if we did anything else after dinner, but we ended the night watching Wishes!

I had a great view – until a child appeared on the shoulders in front of me. Dang it, Joan!

But then I realized this may work out for pictures!

Not bad!

We made our way back to the resort at various speeds.

I was standing in line for the bus with Jenell and Misty when I remembered I TOTALLY FORGOT TO RETURN MY RENTAL CAR.

Dang. It. Joan.

After we got back, Jenell graciously followed me back to the Car Care Center and I dropped it off.

Pro Tip – Don’t ever go to the Car Care Center around the time Magic Kingdom is closing. We literally waited 20 minutes to cross the road. 20 minutes. So painful. But it was back! And I don’t think they ever charged me for the extra time? Phew!!

Then it was finally bedtime!

I think I would cry if I toured Palo and Remy without getting to eat anything!

That day was my very first day to see a Disney ship. It was my very first time stepping onboard a Disney ship. I remember the agents all saying it was such a cruel day for them, but for me, it was such a cool, amazing day! I fell in love with Disney Cruise Line that day, without ever leaving the port.
