Day 7 – Cologne

We left Lahnstein at 6 am and headed for Cologne!  Morning sailing this time!

We had breakfast and then Fruhschoppen (which is a German brunch) and then lunch!!  Crazy morning of eating.

Here’s our Daily Cruiser!

Here’s Fruhschoppen!

I can never have too many pretzels.

We got to Cologne at 12:30. We were doing a Holy City walking tour and Cathedral visit. We’re here!

We’re off!

Our tour guide was absolutely hilarious. We loved him! He kept telling us to watch out for the bikers. He said in Cologne the bikers would try to ring their bell and not hit you. He said in Amsterdam bikers would hit you and then ring their bell in celebration! Ha!

We walked to the bridge.

Locks on the bridge!

To the cathedral.

Here’s our guide:

If I didn’t say it before, we all had headsets in our rooms. If you were going on an excursion that used them, you brought them. If not, you left them in your room to charge! They worked great!

Our guide dropped us off in this square and we said goodbye.

We made our way through the shopping district on the way to the chocolate museum!

I don’t know why I can’t find my pictures from the chocolate museum!  I know I took some!  We had delicious chocolate cake. We also shopped a little. We had ended up in the same area with the same server most nights, and when we asked what we shouldn’t miss in Cologne, he said the chocolate museum and we should bring him some chocolate. So we decided to take him up on it and we bought a chocolate cathedral for him!

We also saw this chocolate Catan and I have no idea why we didn’t buy it. Fail.

Walking back!

I went to check on our pick up times for Saturday. Everyone was assigned a color:

And pick up time!

Tonight was our farewell Gala dinner! We went to the reception and had a non-alcoholic something.

Here it is with our chocolate cathedral.

The whole group!

Back in our private room for dinner!

Too much affection!

I think our server actually got a little choked up by the cathedral! He couldn’t believe we bought him something!

So that was a fun night! Amsterdam tomorrow!
