Day 5 – Heidelberg and Daytime Sailing!

We woke up to a beautiful sunrise!

We arrived in Ludwigshafen at 8:00 in the morning. We had a tour of Heidelberg today! Here’s our Daily Cruiser:

It was rainy when we woke up which was a bummer. But we had umbrellas and there were umbrellas in our room we could use as well. We got on the buses to Heidelberg. We were on a different bus than the parents as we were all doing different activity level tours of Heidelberg. But our bus broke!

Our Mercedes Benz bus broke! So one of their buses came back and got us and we made it to the castle!

Luckily it stopped raining about 20 minutes after we arrived.

The views were spectacular!

Heidelberg selfie!

We toured the castle and then walked down into the town. The guide said goodbye pretty quickly and then left us with an hour or so to walk through town and explore the shops and cafes. Matt is a serious runner, and he was itching to get a good run in, so he changed into his running shorts while Debbie came shopping with us!

This is the main shopping street, which went on forever!

I found a Starbucks for my mug.

And this shirt made me laugh so much. So much.

I didn’t know what I wanted for a snack. Debbie got a Schneeball which we had first tried in Rothenberg on Adventures by Disney. It was delicious!

Everything and nothing looked good to me, so I kept going in bakeries and coming right back out.

I finally found cake!! And it was delicious chocolate cake!! So delicious I ate it too fast to take a picture. We rushed back to the bus, my search for the perfect snack made us short on time, found Matt and headed back to the ship!

We’re back!

Lunch was a German buffet today! Here’s the menu:

I had schnitzel!

It was delicious! We went up top later while we were sailing. I love sailing in the middle of the day!

We arrived in Rudesheim at 7:30 and overnighted there.

Here we are at dinner!

We got off after to enjoy the city a little. The check in and off process is incredibly casual. There was usually a crew member there with a mobile scanning device who scanned you off. If it was too late at night, or early in the morning, there was no one! And if you forgot something, you could just walk back on and off. SO different!

After some sightseeing, we used Google Maps to find a grocery store and went to buy some Cokes for our fridge! Then it was bedtime!
