Day 5 – Excitement on the Lazy River!

I slept until 6:30, and woke up to a little bit of work.

We went downstairs around 7:30!

Gorgeous, gorgeous day! We passed Stitch!

We went back to the chairs from a couple of days ago. I love this spot!

The view behind us:

We both had to work a little! But it’s not a bad place to work from…

I went to get my wristband and towels around 9.

This place was absolutely empty today! I’ve never seen so many chairs open this late!

We relaxed and read for a while, and then went to get a snack!

It’s my favorite breakfast food! Besides Lorna Doones, of course. Breakfast potatoes! Woohoo!

Stephen got pineapple.

After a little while, we got up to go to the lazy river.

We went around a couple of times, and the second time I passed a guy out of his tube. No one is supposed to be out of their tube right now. I kind of ran into him and apologized.

The life guard blew her whistle about two seconds later and I thought he was about to be told to get back in his tube. I heard a big splash and turned around, and he was floating, facedown!

The life guard grabbed him, and flipped him over, and started checking his breathing, while Stephen tried to get out of their way. He wasn’t moving! It terrified me to think I didn’t notice anything wrong when I went by 10 seconds before.

Then another life guard appeared on the bank, held up a sign that said “Lifeguard Training”, and started yelling to everyone that it was okay!

They were just testing a lifeguard!

Mercy. It seriously scared me so much.  I know why it had to be a secret, and I know if they had let us know, the lifeguard would have known, so they couldn’t do that.  But man.

The man apologized to us for scaring us, and the lifeguard team was praising the lifeguard on how well she reacted.

We applauded her, and I tried to get my heart rate back to normal!  Not gonna lie, that took a while.

After that bit of excitement, we got out and went to the hot tub.

Then we ordered flatbreads at the chair!

Later we sat in the adult pool (which isn’t adult only right now) for about an hour.

Then it was back – to the hot tub!

After we dried off, we went for Shave Ice! Mickey shaped, of course.

While we were eating, we saw Minnie and Daisy waving from the balcony of a grand villa!

I had the wide angle lens on, so I could not get a good picture.  But it was fun to see them!

After that we went for a final spin in the lazy river, and then one last dip in the hot tub.

We went upstairs around 4 to shower and get ready for dinner. We went to an Italian place that was recommended by a friend, and it was great! I had chicken Parmesan, as always. I am nothing, if not predictable.

Then we shopped a little in the stores, and after that, it was time to pack (sadness), and get ready for bed.

This was a wonderful getaway! A little on the short side, but still great! I’m so glad we did it!

Thank you for reading! One last goodbye from Aulani!

I’m glad the lifeguard is so well trained, but that certainly would have scared me! That flatbread might have been the only thing to soothe me!

Thanks for sharing your trip. I learned a lot about Aulani!

That lifeguard training would have messed me up for a while! I probably would have taken several more trips around the lazy river to try to relax, except that I would have been wondering if I would see the same thing again! We both love lazy rivers, at least in normal circumstances.

Yes, I needed to get out for a little while! But we went back later in the day and it was much more relaxing. 🙂
