Day 4 – Castaway Cay – Or Not…

We woke up today to my least favorite sound. The sound of us not docking at Castaway Cay! Oh noeses!

I have missed Castaway 3 times (out of 20), and it is always sad. You can’t ever have enough Castaway Cay. I was mostly sad this time for the newbies though! I HATE it when you miss it on your first cruise. It’s a huge part of the Disney cruise experience!

But it couldn’t be helped. We went to the Castaway Cay 5k meeting location where they confirmed we would keep trying to dock, but could not do the 5k. They did give us our bibs, and we decided to run on deck 4 anyway.

We’re running!

We had put all of our stuff we didn’t want to run with on one of the deck chairs. On one of the laps we realized a lady had picked up our pile of stuff and moved it to the bench. I was so irritated. I completely understand someone may need the chair, and that’s fine! But she was literally the only person sitting down, and every single other chair was empty.

The only one.

Seriously?

I may have expressed my irritation to Beth louder than I had intended. Anywhoooo…

We did it! This is our we-ran-and-didn’t-get-a-medal sad faces:

We did get a new Navigator for the day!

Look, so close!

We all showered and went to lunch in Enchanted Garden:

I had spaghetti and meatballs, but slightly regretted not getting that hamburger:

We raced out afterwards to go see Bridge of Spies. Our server gave us Mickey bars for the road which we so did not need!

Bridge of Spies was great! Mom bought this amazing popcorn holder for my nephew:

After the movie, we went up top to enjoy the sun.

Nicole looks very suspicious of my intentions with this picture. Blackmail perhaps?

Ice cream break!

Dinner tonight was in Animator’s Palate. It was pirate night! We stopped to see Minnie first!

The sunset was gorgeous!

Dinner!

My favorite!

During dinner our servers told us that Disney was giving everyone a free drink since we missed Castaway Cay! Woot!

There were two alcoholic drinks which I cannot remember, and one slushie which I had:

Dessert!

We stopped by the room after dinner. Freaky monkey towel animal picture for instagram!

We played cards until the pirate party. We are clearly party animals:

We went up top in time for the fireworks! Because fireworks!

I took some phone pics:

We also stopped at the buffet. Arrrghhh!

We closed out the night with The Finest Hours starring Chris Pine. We all liked it!

Last day tomorrow!

What are some of the reasons why the ship might not be able to dock at Castaway Cay?

Wind is the main reason! If the wind is too strong and the seas are too high, the ship can’t safely dock!
