Day 4 – Cabanas and Palo Soufflés

Today is the perfect last day of a cruise!  Castaway Cay with cabanas!

We had originally booked the Grand Cabana and the one next door for our group, but they were still being repaired from the hurricane, so we couldn’t get in that one! We were lucky enough to be moved to cabanas 9 and 10, and we had 17 as well. So Missy and crew, and Beth and crew would go to 17, while the rest of us spread out in the other two!

We had ordered a hot breakfast the night before, but we wanted to be off right at 8:30, and they couldn’t bring it until 8:30. So we cancelled it and ate in the lounge.

We met Dad and Mom and got off right on time! They had never done a cabana before, so I was excited for them to enjoy it!

Mom decided she wanted to ride the tram, and I thought I better go with them and show them where to go. Stephen walked. Heather was with Mukta and she was texting me and taunting me that she beat me off the ship!

Rude.

We trammed and then walked to the cabana. David, the concierge host, was sitting and waiting for the first guests. He heard my voice and wondered who it was. I had told him when we cancelled breakfast that we wanted to be off first, and he laughed when he saw us. He said – you were not kidding!

Nope!

He said on the last cruise he had someone only stay on the island for two hours in the cabana! Whaaa? That’s craziness!

Also, I beat Heather to the actual cabana, so that made me happy after all of the taunting.

But she decorated our cabana!! How nice was that?

Nobody was here!

Dad and Mom settled right in to the cabana life.

So did the hat!

And SD-14.

Hi, Shallon!

Took some beach pics!

Droid and hat pictures ruled the day.

We went out to the water and floated for a while. Kind of. The hurricane completely changed the landscape of the sand. The beach was super shallow, even at high tide. At low tide the water area was tiny! Which I will show you later.

At high tide there was a lot of water, but it wasn’t more than a couple of feet deep in most places. But that was fine for floating and sitting and talking!

We also sat in chairs on the edge for quite a while. The tide was going out and we kept having to move them deeper!

I am always starving before lunch on Castaway, and we were counting down the minutes until lunch. Finally it was 11:20 and we headed that way!

We rope dropped lunch!

Then we went right back to the water. It was just glorious out. At some point I walked back in and got my camera. We were the only ones out there!

The tide was going out! See those five chairs? Those were us! We started at the pink one on the top with our feet in the water. Then we moved down closer, then closer again! And now they were way up on the beach!

Heather and I got Mukta and we went out on the sandbar that had just appeared to take some pictures!

I could see Sherry and Joy in chairs wayyyy back over there!

Heather’s hat!

My hat!

Then we went back to the water! Our group started to trickle out around 2 or 3. Heather and I were the die-hards. We were about to start heading back at 3:30 when I realized the light was just spectacular!

So I took a few more pictures of course!

Okay, I guess we should go back! Goodbye, beautiful cabana!

The weather was just perfect today! What a great day at Castaway!

I showered and got ready for dinner and the girls came over so we took some pics.

Look how cute they are!

Dinner was in Enchanted Garden tonight!

Sebastian wasn’t there! He had torn his Achilles playing soccer the night before! We felt so bad for him! So we had a sub. I forgot his name!

Stephen saw Heather’s gluten free pot stickers at some point and knew I would want them, so he asked for some more!

 I had the prime rib!

Mom broke out her giant extendable fork at some point. I didn’t take a picture but it comes out on every cruise! She started taking at our table and then went to Missy and Levi’s table with it. After they did the finger greeting first, of course.

We tried not to eat too much because we had big plans at 8:30!

One of the Royal Suite benefits is the ability to order Palo in the room. I had asked earlier in the week if it may be possible to get a dozen (plus two gluten free) chocolate soufflés delivered on the last night!! Eek! I was so excited! I told them it was totally fine if they couldn’t! But if it was possible I would love it.

And it was possible! Yay!

Ally and Sarah came over early to get in the hot tub! Which had colored lights!

And then we waited…

It was time! They set the table!

They’re here!

It’s like a dream!!

Okay, people! Let’s eat! We had some damage to do!

What is Levi doing with a Mickey bar? We forced a soufflé on him a few minutes later.

I think Stephen took these:

See how happy we all were?

And stuffed.

So stuffed.

Lol. That was amazing. SO amazing. I feel like I keep using that word…

As people started to trickle out, Ally asked if we were going to Silent DJ. Stephen said no way he could stay up that late. But then we just kept talking and talking and staying up. Missy, Levi, Mukta and Heather stayed until well after midnight! We didn’t want the night to end!

We were sitting out back with our feet in the hot tub around midnight, watching the other ships in the area. One of them looked red up top and we were trying to figure out what it was.

Uh… the Fantasy is red up top? Oh! We have UNLIMITED INTERNET! We could check!

It was the Fantasy!!!

We were unreasonably excited about seeing a ship we have seen a gazillion times before. But excited we were! It was sailing right at us! Unfortunately I had a wide angle lens on, and it was just out of range of cell phone pictures, so we have none. But it was so cool!

We said goodnight later and went to bed in the suite for the last time! Sadness.
