Day 1 – Yacht Club and Homecomin’

It was time! Finally! Stephen and I drove down to LA the night before our crazy early flight! After we checked in, we grabbed some Chick-fil-a and headed to our gate.

SD-14 was along for the trip of course!

At some point my dad texted me and asked if we wanted to go to Homecomin’ for dinner. Well who says no to that?

After landing we told Mukta we would grab a packing cube that she forgot on Alaska Airlines. We went down to grab it and were told that it was locked up and only one person in the entire airport could get it out. He said it would be 15-20 minutes.

We said okay and sat down to wait.

After 20 minutes, I went to ask again, and he called that ONE person again. He said she was very busy and it would be another 20 minutes. Well we had already waited that long, we weren’t leaving then!

He was nice, but he told me twice if we had called ahead he would have had it unlocked. We certainly would have if we had ever even dreamed that they would be holding a tiny packing cube full of leggings in a top secret vault in the airport.

The supervisor finally came down, went into the locked up area, got the packing cube and handed it to me over her shoulder without even acknowledging us.

Ooookay. Thanks?

Finally, we were on our way! Luckily the bus left quickly, but we were the fifth stop! Fifth!

My parents were waiting outside Yacht Club for us! Yay!

Dad called Homecomin’ to say we would be a little late which wasn’t a problem.

We ran our carry-ons upstairs. When we passed the concierge desk she wanted to talk to us and sit us down, but we begged off and told her we were late for a dining reservation.  She was very understanding and welcomed us and gave us a times sheet for the lounge.

We got back downstairs and checked the app. A bus was coming soon, so we waited it out.
Homecoming was packed! Thank goodness we had reservations.

I didn’t take any pictures at all, but I had fried chicken! We hadn’t eaten since Chick-fil-A that morning, so we were quite hungry.

When we got up to leave, we passed a family sitting at the bar who said the wait was 2 hours at that point. Yikes!

I texted Mukta when we finished and she said she would come meet us to try the Skyliner for the first time!

Dad and Mom had already ridden it several times, so they said goodnight and went to their room.

Stephen and I ran into the lounge and grabbed tiny tubs of chocolate ice cream to eat as we walked.
Mukta was waiting at the entrance!

We decided to run into the restroom first – just in case!!! Getting stuck on the Skyliner would not have been the end of the world – UNLESS you had to go to the bathroom. Ha!

So we really really liked it! Epcot Forever was happening, so we had a neat view of Epcot. The airflow was great, the views were fun, and we thought the hubs were very well themed! We rode on every segment, because why not?

I will admit, when you come into a station or curve, it does not feel like you are slowing down enough, and like you are going to crash into the car in front of you! It’s a little surprising the first time, but you get used to it. And, spoiler alert, we did not crash!

Here we are!

While we were riding, I realized I really wanted to try it in the daytime too. I figured we would have time in the morning before we left, so we made plans.

When we got back, Mukta came to her room to get her high value packing cube, and we said goodnight!

Tomorrow was the big day!
