Day 3 – The Perfect Day at Castaway Cay!

I was sleeping soundly until 5 am, when it sounded like elephants were setting up the chairs above us at Cabanas.  Slow elephants.  They banged chairs around for almost an hour.

Heather and I were awake and never going back to sleep after that.  I was THIS close to going out on the verandah and yelling at them to be quiet.

But all was well, because today we were headed to my favorite place!  Castaway Cay!

Scott had been pretty worried we weren’t going to make it because the wind forecast was so bad.  We planned lots of alternate activities just in case!

When it finally got light outside, we could see how close we were. I went out to take a picture and the wind was so strong, I’m pretty sure it almost blew me off the deck. So I went back in and took pictures!

It was soooo windy, I thought I was taking pictures for the report with a caption of “Look how close we were!”

Heather and I were debating, should we shower and get ready for a day onboard, or not shower and put on our swimsuits. We tried going outside a couple more times and decided there was no way we were going to make it. So we both got one of the showers.

When I got out, I went to see where we were, and we were at the dock!!!!

I could not believe it! I started screaming for Heather and may have scared her half to death! Haha!

Well done, Captain Robert! First try even!

We put on our swimsuits and then went up to the lounge.

Here’s breakfast:

The concierge hosts asked how we slept, and Heather told them about the elephants above us at 5 am. She actually used the word elephants. Multiple times.

The hosts were horrified and promised to do something about it tomorrow.

Here’s the tea! And Mickey sugar cubes!

Heather went to Cove Café for another adorable coffee.

Look! We’re really here!

This coffee survived all the way to our verandah!

We always rope drop the island, so as soon as we could, we were off! We got off with the Sanders and Heather J and her mom.

Scott was running a Trot with Scott for anyone that wanted, so he and Emily were headed to the starting line.

Is Trot with Scott sponsored by Chick-fil-A?

We said goodbye to the runners and made our way to the grand cabana! Woohoo!!!

Look at this beauty.

They moved the hammock up onto the deck of the grand cabana, which I thought was a great choice! SD-14 certainly enjoyed it!

And the beach.

And the chairs.

He’s a bit of a chair hog actually.

There’s Heather J and Cameron!

Shallon was one of the few brave enough to get in the water!

Now everyone was starting to arrive!

Scott came back with his medal!

We had two cabanas, so I went back and forth:

SD-14 also got a new profile picture while we were at the cabana!

Shallon was chillin’.

Courtney was snoozing.

I am always starving on Castaway Cay, and today was no exception. I talked everyone into rope dropping Cookies Too, and thank goodness we did!

We got our food and within 5 minutes the skies opened up. It was pouring!!

Our empty lunch shelter filled quickly! Some more of our group members met up and we had a lovely lunch while waiting for the rain to subside.

Man we timed that well.

I only brought my phone! But here is my food:

We went back to the cabana after the sun came back out! Brandon, Justin and Audrey were performing a musical shell hand off.

It was quite a production!

Then there was a community cookie thing happening.

Brandon went out to the island and wrote a giant “DCL Blog” and “Storybook Destinations” in the sand. I would have loved a picture, but I had the ultra wide lens on, so I just couldn’t get close enough!

It was turning in to a beautiful day here!

Courtney was feeling nautical.

Then it was time for Prosecco Pong! Or Sparkling Cider Pong depending on your age or drinking preference.

Izzy tested the Sparkling Cider set up.

Brandon and Justin are ready:

The kids had mad skillz.

Brandon is pointing out that this was Sparkling Cider!

For reals!

Refills!

Brandon chilling between matches.

Scott was up next.

Then it was time for a break.

Misty and Audrey were up next!

And on Misty’s very first shot? Nothing but net. And this happened:

Hilarious.

I have to say, everyone really got into this. I was so worried about the thunderous cheers bothering other guests, but I think most people had already gone back! Or were enjoying our celebrations? We never heard complaints anyway!

If I am now blacklisted from cabanas, I blame Scott and Emily for bringing Prosecco Pong.

The kids ran the table! They beat us all!

Seriously. It was a beautiful day.

Scott and Heather were totally relaxed apparently.

We finally decided they were going to kick us off the island and headed back. Island selfie!

This didn’t look good?

DCL Blog himself, waving goodbye:

Goodbye, Castaway! You were good to us!

We had a concierge gift in our room!

Tonight was Pirate night!

Isabelle had the spirit!

I had the fries!

And steak.

And ice cream!

After dinner we went to trivia and then the concierge lounge which was decked out for pirate night!
