Day 2 – Hello, Ovation!

We both woke up at 6:30, wide awake!

We had big plans. We were planning on watching the Women’s soccer quarterfinal in the Olympics, and then walking to a few stores to shop for Ally.

We decided to go ahead and start the game, which had aired three hours earlier! Ally was committed and stayed off her phone and social media!

But when we tried to start it, we couldn’t find a replay! Ack! We tried free accounts, we tried Xfinity, Peacock, everything!

I told Ally to look away, and I was going to have to start googling.

I saw the final result almost immediately. I didn’t tell Ally though! And eventually I found a way to make it work on Xfinity. Woohoo!

We stayed in bed, and watched. It was funny to watch her stress not knowing what would happen.

The U.S. won! Woot! Then we finished getting ready, and started walking.

Here’s our hotel!

The water is right down there:

I just love this town!

Our check in wasn’t until noon, and Ally was shocked at how chill I was, and not rushing her. That is not my norm on cruise mornings. Ha!

We finished shopping about 11:30 and walked up the very big hill back to our hotel! We both agreed we loved Seattle and wished we had more time!

We called a Lyft, and we were on our way! We’re here!

The person checking people in was a little dismayed that our check in was at 12 and we arrived at 12:20. But he begrudgingly let us on anyway. Lol.

On test cruises they randomly choose some guests to play an unvaccinated role onboard. We were rather concerned, because the unvaccinated couldn’t go in the Solarium! I knew we wanted to spend a lot of time there, so we kept our fingers crossed that we weren’t chosen. When she handed us our white wristbands, we breathed a huge sigh of relief! We were clear!

We boarded and found our room. Ally kindly stayed outside while I filmed!

Here’s the video:

We had a lot of welcome materials.

Then we were off to lunch at Windjammers. Yum! We walked through the covered pool area.

My favorite station is the pasta station where they cook it custom and fresh for you.

We looked over all of the activities and info about the cruise while we ate. We also watched the muster drill on our app.

Welcome aboard cake!

Then I took Ally all over the ship exploring. We ran through the SeaPlex first, which I was excited to show her since she had never seen anything like it on a Disney ship.

We went outside next!

Hello, Seattle!

Then we stopped and watch FlowRider for a few minutes.

We also stopped to see if the North Star or iFly was going to be open, but they weren’t sadly.

Look at these cuties!

Pool deck!

When we walked by the ice cream place, the crewmember said – don’t you want some ice cream? And we realized yes. Yes, we did.

The solarium onboard many Royal ships is about my favorite place onboard. It’s such a great, great space!

Plus, it’s only for adults! #winning

We stopped in the theater to complete our muster.

This is Schooners where we spent a lot of time playing games and trivia!

Here’s the Royal Promenade:

We unpacked, and then Ally snoozed while I worked a little! This is the view from our verandah:

If you notice the V on some venues, those were designated Vaccinated areas. Which meant no mask!

That’s awesome!

After Ally woke up, we went to watch the ship sail. And it didn’t! Ha!

There’s a vaccinated band! Woot!

And an absolutely hideous sleep tracker that I had to wear for three weeks. Ignore that. We finally gave up and went to dinner.

The artwork on Royal Caribbean ships still fascinates me. This is awesome:

Although this was one of our favorites:

Our other favorite:

They sat us at our own table about 6 inches from a table on either side of us. We ended up talking to our neighbors which was fun!

I had fried chicken because it’s wrong not to.

And chocolate ice cream for dessert!

Ally had cake!

Then we said goodbye to the tables next to us and went to trivia!

We did not win.

After we finished, we shopped a little, and then went to watch live music in the Music Hall. The occupancy level was so low on the ship that most venues were empty!

We were the only ones in the giant lounge, and the band was excited we were there. They talked to us several times. We knew right away we couldn’t leave until their set was done. Ha!

They were called The Royal Swedes, and they were great.  We recommend!

The bartenders were also happy we were there, and checked on us repeatedly. We ordered some non-alcoholic slushies which were yummy! Since this was a test cruise, all excursions and bar tabs were half off! That was exciting!

One of the bartenders made us roses out of straw wrappers! So cool!

We went up top to see the sunset after they finished.

Beautiful!

We went to karaoke to see if anyone was there – and they weren’t!

So it was bedtime! Sea day tomorrow!
