Day 2 – First is Best!
In all of Tammy’s excitement, she was wide awake at 6 AM! She tried her best to not wake us up, but must have gotten desperate at some point.
We all got ready, and headed down to Chick-fil-a for some breakfast. We ate as fast as possible with Tammy rushing us, and trooped downstairs to Ground Transportation.
Surprisingly, there was no one down there with Mickey gloves!
Of course the goal was to get on the first bus to the terminal, but there was already a line. A cast member was walking through the line asking everyone to open their books to the right page with the transfers on it, but we had booked the transfer a few days before and didn’t have that. When we told her this she was baffled, and proceeded to take us to the front of the line to fix it.
We got the first rows on the first bus!
When we arrived at the terminal, Tammy realized this was her golden opportunity to be the first person inside. So when the bus doors opened up, there was no waiting around for her family. She took off, and was successfully the first person in the entire terminal!
Because of Tammy’s platinum status (the rest of are lowly gold members) we got boarding group 1!
Unfortunately, her sister and family were stuck waiting at their hotel for a shuttle, and we decided to sacrifice boarding to wait for them.
We waited, and waited, and waited, as the boarding group numbers ticked by.
Finally they were here and ready!
We boarded with group 10. Once on the Fantasy, we made a beeline for the buffet at the Enchanted Garden! This is widely regarded in our family as one of the best meals of the entire cruise.
The buffet had some awesome ice cream!
We were all having a blast, all that is, but one. Tammy’s youngest nephew had a bad case of Athlete’s Foot, and he was feeling pretty miserable. But that didn’t stop us from running around the ship to explore, coming next!
Our first stop was the kids’ clubs. The Oceaneer’s Club was awesome, and we were all a little jealous the youngest cousin would get to spend her week there!
Look!! An elusive Tammy spotted in her natural habitat! This rare sighting is one that should be treasured.
Then we looked around Edge, where the middle-aged cousin made his home.
Finally, we checked out Vibe, which, from a teenager’s perspective, is just the most amazing place ever.
By now our room was open, so we went and changed into swimsuits. The line for the AquaDuck was practically nonexistent, and needless to say it was a splash.
Afterwards, we marched over to the sports simulator, which is free the first afternoon.
A bit later was the muster drill, where Tammy apparently spent more time taking pictures than practicing safety.
The Sailing Away party was next!
Our first meal was at the Enchanted Garden. Alex and Dewa were our waiters, and we loved them!
This looks like a Tammy meal.
This does not look like a Tammy meal.
Next came the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Then it was time for the welcome show. There was a ventriloquist, and Brent (my personal favorite) tried to convince us all to go watch the “Lone Ranger, because judging by ticket sales we hadn’t yet.” Oh, Brent :).
We ended the night with a little hot tubbing!
