Day 1 – What’s the Name of that Orange Bird?
We (very) unexpectedly moved a couple of weeks before our trip, so we flew in from all over after driving multiple cars across the country, flying back, driving some more, splitting up, and coming from all different directions!
Ally and I ended up in Nashville, and left very early on Tuesday morning.
Bonnie and family, and Dad and Mom all came on Monday because flights were so much cheaper! They all stayed at Caribbean Beach on Monday night.
Chase and Olivia came from Nashville, but had to wait until Olivia finished teaching, so they had a late flight.
Stephen ended up in Colorado, and he was coming Tuesday morning. UNTIL – we looked at the weather on Sunday night. And realized there was a huge storm hitting Monday night. There was no way he was going to make it. So he took the last flight out on Monday night. And thank goodness he did! We had friends who were trying to get out on Tuesday morning, and they weren’t able to get out until Saturday!
So phew!
I grabbed Stephen a night at All Star Movies and he made it in around 1 am.
Ally and I landed at 9 am and got to Magical Express pretty quickly. This sign scared me:
But we checked in quickly! Unfortunately we waited for a bus for a lonnnnnng time.
But we made it eventually! Stephen woke up at some point while we were on the bus and started making his way to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Our room wasn’t ready, so we dropped off our bags and went to Disney Springs.
Dad, Mom and Bonnie’s fam were at Magic Kingdom, and random pictures of them were popping up in my Photopass.
They clearly did not know there is now a photo on Haunted Mansion:
Ellie must have liked her score on Buzz Lightyear!
They also sent me this at some point. Dang it, Joan.
We were torn on where to eat, and were headed to D-Luxe Burger when we passed Chicken Guy! That sounded delicious! And it was!
We shopped for a while after that. This shirt was awesome, and reminded me of Carter so I took a picture.
As we walked, Stephen saw this painting:
And he said, “Oh look, it’s that orange bird! What’s he called?”
I said, “You did NOT just ask me that.”
And I laughed and laughed.
We did the Christmas Tree Trail which Stephen and Ally appreciated. Ally also appreciated these ears!
Sweet mercy Santa had a crazy wait.
We hopped on a bus to Caribbean Beach after that just to ride the Skyliner!
Oh I forgot, we also stopped in Chapel Hats and I screamed a little when I saw this fascinator. It was the perfect hat for SD-14!!
At some point we got a text that our room was ready, so we made our way back to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
We had a two-bedroom villa! I’ve taken a lot of these two-bedroom villa pictures, so I didn’t take many.
For some reason, I only took pictures of Chase and Olivia’s side. Maybe Stephen and Ally were already stretched out in the other side?
My parents and Bonnie’s family were in regular rooms, which they said would be close, but they weren’t close at all! But they got upgraded to savannah views and had newly refurbed rooms, so no one complained!
We bought a tiny cake that we brought back with us. Because who doesn’t want a tiny cake?
Stephen was not happy with the amount of animals currently on our savannah. He was complaining and Ellie piled on. She said our animals were lame. She said their animals were soooo much better.
She said her animals were so much better they could eat our animals.
Harsh.
SD-14 enjoyed the view:
We had dinner at Sanaa, which was delicious, but I apparently did not take my camera! Or phone?
I have not a single picture! Ack!
But we all had Naan. That’s all you really need to know.
After dinner, we walked back to Jambo, picked up our groceries that had been delivered and we all went to bed!
Chase and Olivia showed up at some point after midnight! They promised to be up in time!
Twelve is the Perfect Number!
