Day 1 – Turks and Caicos Bound!

I was so excited when this opportunity came up. I’ve been to a few Sandals resorts which are amazing, all inclusive, adult-only resorts. Beaches is owned by Sandals and is the family version. It’s also billed as a place for families with adult children and even girls trips! I was anxious to try it and compare! Was it going to feel overrun with children? Could adults really get away there?

Well we were going to find out!

My flight was super early today and I was meeting Heather in Atlanta!

My bags are packed, I’m ready to go!

Right before they scanned my ticket they announced that the overheads were full and all rolling carry-ons had to be checked.

Shoot. But okay, I checked mine. Only to get on and see a ton of overhead space? What up, Delta?

She landed first and we met up in the food court. No pictures, but we both ate QDoba. With live music! Way to go Atlanta!

When we got to our gate, we got in line and thought we heard them calling Heather’s name. No. Surely we imagined that. When we got to the front, my ticket scanned. But hers didn’t! Wuh oh.

Then we realized they were asking people to get off. And get this. They were offering $1000 plus a hotel for the night to take the next day’s flight.

My word. I would have jumped on that in a heartbeat if we wouldn’t have missed the entire morning of training.

But the more pressing issue was whether they were letting Heather on!

Finally, they did. Like we were the last people on. And they kept saying they were overbooked and no way we could sit near each other.

Only to get on and see 4 or 5 empty seats!! Seriously. What up, Delta?

But anywhoo, we were on our way to Turks and Caicos! We couldn’t be sad!

Flying to the Caribbean always makes for great views!

Now I could be totally wrong, but I’m 90% sure that’s Port Canaveral!

And If I’m right, that means this is the Fantasy!!!!!!!!!

Ack! I was a little excited I saw it. I wish I had my real camera!!

We landed and made it through customs pretty quick! We found our bags and walked out to the Beaches counter. We hopped on a waiting van for the very quick ride over.

When we arrived we were greeted and shown our check in place. Heather was also directed to the Dining concierge who would advise her on her food allergy.

We texted Jenell to say we were there and then walked to Heather’s room.

Heather’s room!

Xbox in every room!

Heather’s view!

Jenell met us back downstairs and we found some snacks!

We walked around for a bit!

We found the beach!

This place was gorgeous!

Finally I made it to my room to change!

And took no pictures inside. Whoops!

Then we were off to a reception!

Character Palooza!

Hibachi smelled soooo good!

The spa!

The reception was set up in a courtyard:

Heather found the tables a little tall…

There was live music and great snacks, and it was nice to socialize and meet some other people!

After we finished, we made our way to one of the many restaurants. On the way there we stopped for the amazing sunset!

Jenell took this of Heather and I taking pictures!

Tonight for dinner we chose Barefoot at the Beach which is a restaurant at tables in the sand! I love eating with sand beneath my feet!

We ate with two new friends and I didn’t want to be rude (or odd) so I didn’t take any pictures. After we finished, we all walked around for a while. Then we said goodnight and Heather and I went to the pool!

It was absolutely lovely! We ended up in the hot tub which was gloriously ginormous.

Finally, we went back to our rooms and went to bed! It was a long but fun day today!
