Day 1 – My Birthday!

I guess technically we left the night before!  Our flight was insanely early on the 25th (my birthday!!), so we decided to go up to Denver on Saturday night and spend the night near the airport.

We woke up earrrly on Sunday morning (my birthday!!!), and caught the shuttle.  I admit it.  I was trying to get every second out of my birthday!

After security, I was soooo happy to see a Dunkin’ Donuts in our terminal!  Woot!  We stopped of course.  #itwasmybirthday

I read and slept on the plane and it went relatively quickly.

We picked up our car from Alamo (it was so weird not to be on DME, but we decided we wanted a car so we would get to the ship early the next day), and we were off!

Stephen started following the gps directions, and the gps started taking us in the opposite direction of Disney World!

Hold it!!

We realized he had turned on “Avoid toll roads” on his GPS, and after a 15-20 minute detour, we were finally heading in the right direction.

My face when you are making the drive to Disney take even longer than it should:

We finally made it!!

Hello, Boardwalk!

Our room wasn’t ready, but Stephen did get me a birthday pin! Did I mention it’s my birthday?

We dropped our bags and walked over to see what the wait was at Beaches and Cream!

While we were walking, my friend Joe texted me to say happy birthday! He said, “I hope you are doing something fun!”

So I sent this:

Yeah I was!

They told us it was an hour wait. I had a feeling it wouldn’t be that bad, so we walked to the store and got a snack! Because I was starving. And that shouldn’t happen on your birthday.

I totally have this guy at home. And I love him.

We sat down in the air conditioning and our pager buzzed! It ended up only being about 30 minutes. We had lovely seats at the Chef’s Counter. That’s what it’s called, right?

Stephen had chili:

I had turkey:

We both had this:

This doesn’t look staged at all!

We finished and got the text that our room was ready, not too much later. It was around 3:00. Our room was fine, but having just stayed in a refurbed room last month, they are soooo much better now! Here is the before! See my next trip report for the after! lol

Our balcony:

Our view:

We took a little nap, and then we were off to Downtown Disney! I mean Disney Springs! Who can keep track?

Not sure what was happening here:

I love the new parking garage!

We went in D-Street which is practically all Star Wars these days! I do love this:

We also went in the soccer store, where my husband was shocked by the amount of mistakes on this jersey.

I looked everywhere for a cute laptop case and failed. Why do they not have them? I had fun looking at everything else though!

We bought some Tsum Tsums for Ally and looked for dinner.

We went in Morimoto’s where they said the wait was an hour and a half. That wasn’t surprising, but the fact that I could see at least 20 empty tables was. When I asked, they said they were people with reservations.

We walked by 30 minutes later, still empty. We strolled through the food trucks.

We finally decided just to go back to Boardwalk and eat. The line was building behind me, or my husband was rushing me, one of the two, and I felt pressure and ordered without reading! I got a chicken Caesar salad. I do love chicken Caesar salads.

We sat out on the boardwalk and ate. I was so surprised this salad did not taste good. I ate 4 or 5 bites before I figured out why. It was kale!!! Kale!! Who does that?

Chicken Caesar salads are not made with kale!! Blech.

I ate the chicken. Here’s Ally’s new Tsum Tums!

We went back to the room for the night, where I had a Mickey delivery! Oh yes! It was still my birthday!

And we went to bed! What a fun birthday!
