Day 6 –  Glamping in the Galapagos

Today we woke up at 6:30 and had room service.

We chose a beach walk today where “maybe” we would see flamingos!

We dropped our lifejackets in these bags:

I don’t think you can ever have too many ship pictures.

Found them!

We saw another flamingo, and this little swimming iguana working so so hard. We watched for 15 minutes or so, and he only made it about two feet!

He was getting closer!

 Hiking video!

Back to the zodiacs!

Then we went back to the ship. For tiny sandwiches!

We went up top for a little while and talked to our friends and enjoyed the sun. Afterward, we showered and had lunch. We were sailing this afternoon, and there were some naturalists up top pointing out wildlife.

There was a shark!

And another one!

Afterward we went back down to the lounge for a sea life talk. With Chips Ahoy! I was back on sugar.

Obviously.

This afternoon we were deep water snorkeling. Which we weren’t missing of course! Ever, ever again.

On the zodiac we were passing absolutely massive rays. The biggest I’ve ever seen. A couple of them were 6-8 feet across. Once we were in the water, the snorkelers worked together and called out when they saw things! Like rays! And sharks! It was great snorkeling!

You can see a little bit of a giant ray in this one:

You can see the shark in this one!

Then we went back to the ship where hot chocolate awaited us. And more showers!

The afternoon excursion was on Seamour island which was absolutely covered in birds! And sea lions!

There were also some iguanas!

I don’t know the name of most of these birds (I should have taken notes!), but I know Blue Footed Boobies!

Our naturalist led us over to some rocks as the sun was setting and we had an amazing view. Plus there were sea lion pups! So many pups!

He was very patient with us and let us take a gazillion pictures.

Look at this little cutie!

You’re going to want your sound on for this:

Hiking video!

Then we went back to the ship for more showers! Today there was pasta waiting for us! Woot!

Afterward we went to the lounge for trivia and the next day’s excursion talk.

After we signed up, they came to get us for glamping! We said goodbye to our friends and went up top for our private dinner.

It was way too dark for good food pictures!

There was a basket with games we could play, as well as an ipad of movies! We also had a phone to call our butler whenever we needed. We asked for lots of blankets, but other than that were good to go!

After dinner, we popped down to the room to put on our pjs and went back upstairs in our robes. We closed the back of the enclosure and slept outside! It was really really cool. I would absolutely do it again.
