Day 3 – Into Town

Today we were in Bermuda!  For the first time in forever!

I was so excited to be in a new port!  New to me, and new to Disney both!

We were almost there!

Hello, Bermuda!

Not only was Bermuda a first for me, it was the first time I had overnighted in a port. I was excited to see a ship docked at night!

The sun was out and welcoming us!

Bermuda selfie!

There was a welcoming party of Bermudians on the dock welcoming us:

All docked!

Bermuda is shaped like a horseshoe of sorts, and we docked on the Western end in King’s Wharf near the Royal Naval Dockyard. There was a small port town here.

We headed downstairs and got ready to disembark. The window jack-o-lanterns made a lovely pattern on the floor!

And we are off!

Look how beautiful she is:

Today we planned to take the ferry over to the other side of the island to Hamilton.

We noticed one thing about Bermuda right away. When you disembark a cruise ship in most Caribbean islands, Cozumel, Nassau, etc., you are immediately approached by tour operators and taxi drivers wanting to take you somewhere. That was not the case in Bermuda! Bermuda is a wealthy island. Bermudians don’t necessarily need tourism to survive, and it shows. There were taxi drivers around, but they were enjoying their mornings talking to each other, and weren’t approaching cruise passengers. Once a passenger approached them, they were super friendly! They just weren’t aggressive about finding business.

We went and bought ferry tickets, and then walked around a little until it was time for the next one.

Look at that blue water!

Before long, it was time for the ferry and we boarded. We disembarked in downtown Hamilton!

The colorful buildings are just what you would expect.

We walked along Front Street for a little while.

We went in a few stores here and there! Including Vineyard Vines, and some souvenir shops. These jackets were spectacular.

It was just lovely!

We also went in a grocery store to check out the local food. I’ve always been told that’s the best way to get to know a place. I got to know Bermuda via red velvet cake.

I feel confident, I really know Bermuda now.  And it is good.

Then it was time to get back on the ferry! While we waited, I realized Stephen was wearing Bermuda shorts. IN Bermuda!! Brilliant.

I rode outside this time so I could take pictures.

I wonder how much these houses cost?

I see our ship!

We walked back to the ship for a late lunch.

Horseshoe Bay is a famous beach in Bermuda. I would go there later in the trip.

There was a dolphin park right on the other side of that wall!

Stephen got a build your own bowl over by cabanas.

We relaxed on the ship for the rest of the afternoon.

Dinner tonight was in Rapunzel’s! Woohoo! The thugs were so much fun.

Vladimir collects ceramic unicorns. If you didn’t know!

Hello, Flynn!

Everyone enjoyed, Rapunzel’s.

Tonight after dinner, I announced we were all getting off the ship. Because we could!

I snapped this on my phone while we were walking.

Look! A Disney ship at night! I love it!

We walked over towards the clocktower mall. They were having a festival for us, so we walked around, listened to the music, and checked out the food. Then we walked back to the ship.

Look how cute they are!

Towel animal!

Then it was bedtime! Tomorrow we would wake up – in Bermuda again!

I love the views of the ship across the water! And the night views, too!

I would love to stay overnight in a port sometime. I always feel so rushed to get back to the ship in time whenever we are just there for the day. And I don’t want to miss the ship! Except maybe at Castaway Cay! Hahaha

Yes, that too! It’s crazy not to be worried about the time at all!
