Day 5 – How About Wine?

Today we were in the Wachau Valley! With two stops. One in Durnstein, and later in the day we would stop in Grein.

Ally and I had chosen the hike to the fortress. The description was off on this one as well. It said it was a 10-mile hike! Wut?

We knew that couldn’t be correct, but we did hear it was straight up!

So we fueled up with a big breakfast.

We’re off! We got off in Weissenkirchen.

We bussed to Durnstein and then started our hike. It was absolutely straight up in parts. And only about 2 miles. But it was beautiful up top!

I didn’t take many pictures as we started the real climb, but we were almost there!

And then we headed back down. Much easier!

After our hike, they took us to the next stop of the tour – a wine tasting! At 10:30 in the morning! This was also not in the description. It was becoming hilarious.

I can’t even tell you how happy we were about that bread though.

Then we went to an apricot tasting! The apricots were out of season, so it was actually an apricot liquor tasting. Lol!

Yay for liquor that I am not going to drink again! Ha!

After the tastings, we went to the bakery and bought some amazing bread. We chowed down.

Durnstein was an adorable little town! Loved it!

Then we boarded the bus back to the ship which had moved to Ybbs.

Ally was too full for lunch, so she went to nap! I went to the lounge for a light lunch. Which ended up being a Montecristo. Which is decidedly not light! Ha!

I stayed in the lounge to watch us go through a lock and then went to the room.

This afternoon in Grein we had a private tour of the castle Schloss Greinburg! We all walked together from the ship.

The grotto was amazing.

That was super cool.

Then it was time for dinner.

Dinner tonight was with the Disney reps and we were at the Chef’s Table! I love the chef’s table! Not the food, it’s a little too frou frou for me, but I love the atmosphere and setting. And some of the food!
