Day 3 – DHS, Epcot and After Hours at Animal Kingdom
Mukta did her normal redeye from the West coast and got to the room around 6 am! I woke up, talked to her for a few minutes and then promptly fell back to sleep!
She slept for just a couple of hours and then she was up! Mukta goes hard at the parks. She was still recovering from major surgery, and she still went from opening to close!
I forgot where she was heading that morning, but I was going to the Studios for a couple of hours to catch some Star Wars things and then we were meeting up at Epcot.
I am finally eating here in April! So excited!
It’s time!
When I don’t have glasses on and I’m taking pictures, I miss some of the details in the viewfinder. Like my phone in the picture.
Well that was cool!
I stopped to check on the progress of Pizza Rizzo:
Then I took the boat to Epcot.
Not that boat! Ha!
It was almost time!
I beat Mukta, so I stopped and got lunch in China. Yum!
When she got there we rode Soarin’. It was my first time in the new one! I was rather unhappy about the CGI. I think they took a beautiful movie with beautiful locations and added unnecessary (and sometimes distracting) CGI. Soarin’ is one of my favorite rides of all time, so it irritates me that they did that.
Anyway!
Next we went back to the room and I worked and Mukta napped a little.
While we were in the room a torrential downpour started! I mean torrential. It poured for a few hours.
Tonight was the After Hours Party though, and we weren’t missing it!
When it was time to go, we stopped in the food court and I got a meatball sub!
We were the only people on the bus to the party. No one else was crazy enough to be going out!
Well actually there was one other person on the bus. They were apparently on a circle tour because they’d forgotten to get off the bus! Haha!
We talked to them and they said they were going back to the room to change before the Halloween Party. We were like, Um, there is no Halloween Party tonight. But they were sure there was. So we just gave them some advice in case they got there and there actually wasn’t a party.
Because there wasn’t…
The forecast for the night was not good, but it was only a drizzle when we arrived!
We did the nighttime safari first, which was amazing. I’d heard it wasn’t great, but we loved it! We saw soooo many animals!
This was the fake sunset:
We went over to Dino town next to use our free game coupons. We didn’t win!
There were lots of free snacks around, so we ate next!
The rain had completely stopped by then, so we stopped at the Tree of Life Awakening. Wow. It blew me away!
Then we took a quick visit to see the Nomad Lounge.
Then we went to the Lion King theater for the meet and greets! And dance party!
It’s rather hilarious how much bigger than the backdrop Slim is!
Here we are!
We also went to see Mickey and Minnie!
We walked through the games once more.
And right by a Rivers of Light testing!
Well that was just a super fun night! And after about 30 minutes of drizzle, the weather was perfect! I’m so glad we went!
