Day 2 – Aladdin
Today we were waiting (somewhat impatiently on my part, I admit it) for Jenell to drive in from Maryland and Missy to drive in from Pennsylvania and we would be off! I think we left around 10:00.
Heather booked our hotel. I’ve been to NYC a few times, but only stayed in a hotel one time. The last time I liked our hotel, but I decided the next time I wanted to spend a little more and stay in Times Square.
That was my only request! Times Square.
We had a great time catching up in the care and were there before we knew it! And we pulled up to…
The exact same hotel I stayed at last time!!!
Whaaaaa??? Lol
I soon learned Heather and I had a different definition of what Times Square is. We joked for the next two days about going to the “real” Times Square.
We were only a couple of blocks from my definition of Times Square so it was no biggie.
We left our bags and we were off!!
Despite how this looks we did not take a cab, lol.
We were starving! So we made our way to Shake Shack.
After filling our bellies we walked towards the REAL Times Square.
Look what we found! Our destination for tonight!
Aladdin selfie!
Getting closer to Times Square!
We are here!!! THIS is Times Square!!
Times Square selfie!
See? Times Square makes me smile!
Jenell taking over fun picture duty while Missy was busy.
Our first stop was the Disney Store. Of course.
Back on the move.
We also went in the giant Toys-R-Us.
Next our walking tour continued to Rockefeller Center.
Rockefeller selfie!
We popped in the Lego store. I cannot tell you how much I love these Lego sets. Man I wish they had these when Ally was little!
And this sign was amazing. I couldn’t get a good picture because of the glare.
Heather was doing a little window shopping on 5th Avenue.
Coolest Apple store anywhere.
Picture break!
We needed to go in FAO Schwarz too!
FAO selfie with the toy soldier!
Lions and tigers and bears – oh my!
In the back there was an amazing Build your Own Muppet!
See how cute?
Last stop was Central Park!
Picture time!
I must say, I lost count of the number of rats that crossed our path as we walked.
Seriously.
Finally our self guided tour was finished and we went back to the room next to change to get ready for Aladdin!
We went back to the room and fancied up a little for our big night out. We had dinner reservations at Ceci, so we walked there and had a great dinner.
My disclaimer here is that I did not bring my camera out tonight. I knew I couldn’t use it in the theater so I relied on my iPhone all night!
Somehow I did not manage to take any dinner pictures! #fail
After eating we were cutting it a little close on time so we speed walked to the New Amsterdam Theater. We walked up right on time and met our ABD group.
We said hello and went inside the amazing theater. Tomorrow we would be back for a tour!
Playbill!
Our very sweet sales rep for Disney bought us Twizzlers and M&M’s.
So you know, just chillin’. Eating Twizzlers in Aladdin.
The show started. Sooooo good!! The Genie killed it.
At one point during his “You Ain’t Never Had a Friend Like Me” ad-libbing, he said, “I LOVE Erica Kane!” and I thought it cool but crazy random?
Intermission was immediately after that and there were a few people giving him a standing ovation, including one petite brunette on our row in the section next to us.
Well guess who it was?
Erica Kane!!!! Aka Susan Lucci.
That was pretty cool.
We watched the second half and loved that as well and then said our goodbyes.
We cut back through Times Square. The REAL Times Square!
Finally we walked back to our room and went to bed. We were meeting crazy early for Good Morning America the next day!
