Day 1 – Travel Day!

I decided to fly in on the 6th and spend the night with Heather in Jersey so we could get to NYC as early as we could on the 7th. Our first activity was Aladdin on the night of the 7th, so we had a good part of the day to explore! Heather picked me up at the airport and we had an exciting evening of pizza and television.  

Now before I leave this day of no pictures, I have a story. This was the morning I had one of the most horrifying experience of my life. #iamonlyslightlyexaggerating

Like most flights out of Las Vegas that go East, my flight was stupid early. I woke up around 4:15 am to leave at 5. Stephen was out of town so when my alarm went off I stumbled to the bathroom and turned on the light. I stepped in and noticed a strange thing on the floor. It kind of looked like a couple inches of carpet threads tangled up together. It was the same color as my tile so I barely even saw it.

I almost ignored it, but decided to look closer.

It was not carpet. It was – a dead scorpion.

My worst fears of living in the desert were realized. Okay, second worst fear. First would have been a live one.  

I very calmly and maturely – burst into tears.

I knew from my brief readings on scorpions that other scorpions feed on dead ones, so I also knew I had to get rid of it immediately.

Where is my husband when I need him?!!!  

I cried my way to the laundry room, got a broom and dustpan and swept him up and flushed him down the toilet.

I would like to say I instantly felt better. I did not. That stupid thing shook me up.

I still check my bed every night before getting in.

So on to the next day!  Happier thoughts and a day with pictures!!
